Blazblue Chrono Phantasma will have 64 player lobbies

July 17, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Other added features include arcade center lobby system, return of "Teach Me Miss Litchi."

Blazblue Chrono Phantasma is going to have some interesting new features, especially for its online matchmaking component. Most newsworthy is the setup for the online lobbies.

Matchmaking in the game can apparently take a long time, so Aksys is setting up lobbies that can hold as many as 64 players. While waiting for matches, players will get autogenerated CPU oppnents, the same way its been set up in Tekken Revolution. The lobbies will also contain text chat.

There will be another system to connect online, based on the conceit of different real-life regions having their own 'cities'. Players will have SD avatars that can visit these different cities. Finally, the game will see the return of "Teach Me Miss Litchi", were the popular doctor explains the lore and story details of the Blazblue game world. This time, this feature will come with full voice acting.

It'll be a year before Blazblue Chrono Phantasma hits the US (apparently on the fourth quarter), but this will give them enough time to improve and iterate on the game and these features. They've certainly been taking their time with the game to keep core fans happy. Blazblue is also getting the anime treatment with Alter Memory, while Aksys has already announced development of a next generation installment of now-regained key franchise Guilty Gear.

Blazblue Calamity Trigger had a strong showing in the very succesful E3 held last weekend, and Aksys brought a new trailer for Chrono Phantasma to that event as well. You can check out the trailer below:
