Sky's Now TV app has been officially released on PS3 in the UK and allows users to access content including Sky Movies and Sky Sports.
Now TV is an internet based service which carries Movies and Sports without the need for a standard Sky subscription. Users can pay £9.99 for the Sky Sports Day pass, meaning you can view sports on without a contract.
Among the events available for Sky Sports are the British and Irish Lions Tour, Formula One race, gold majors, 116 Premier League matches over the coming season, La Liga and Champions League games as well as the Ashes.
Now TV offers viewers the chance to watch up to 20 new movie premieres at least a year before they're available on Netflix or Lovefilm Instant. Monthly subscription are available for £15 while new customers can avail of a 30 free trial and can avail of a 90 day introductory offer of £8.99 per month.
In addition to Sports and Movies, Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and Sky Living will all be added over the coming year.
Fergal Gara, head of Sony Computer Entertainment UK & Ireland said, "Adding Sky's amazing content via Now TV to the PlayStation 3's services is a real boon for our millions of UK customers. Streaming great and exclusive sports and movie content to the family TV is a huge enhancement to the PlayStation entertainment portfolio."
Now TV was released on Xbox 360 last year. The PS3 is the world's number one device for viewing Netflix and unlike the Xbox 360 where a Gold account is needed to access entertainment options PlayStation owners do not need a PlayStation Plus account to use such services.
This will not change on PS4 where a Plus account is needed for online multiplayer.
