Eidos Montreal Shoots Down Shadow of the Tomb Raider Nintendo Switch Port Speculations

August 10, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

Looks like there’s no plans in the works for a Nintendo Switch port.

Tomb Raider has become a big seller lately due to its critical acclaim video game reboot back in 2013. Since then, the developers have put out a direct sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and are currently preparing for the launch of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

This upcoming release is slated to launch in September for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. However, it’s likely some Nintendo Switch owners are hoping that they too will finally get a chance to enjoy Lara Croft on the go.

Speaking with Gamespot, Eidos Montreal lead game designer Heath Smith stated that there are no plans on bringing out a port of the game to the Nintendo Switch. This will come as a disappointment for Nintendo Switch owners who were looking to enjoy the anticipated action-adventure title.

Currently, neither of the two previous main installments to the franchise, Tomb Raider, and Rise of the Tomb Raider, are available on the Nintendo Switch platform. However, it would be interesting to see if ports end up on the latest Nintendo console hybrid.

For those unaware, Shadow of the Tomb Raider takes place after the events of Rise of the Tomb Raider. This time around, Lara Croft will be facing against the Trinity organization once again as she attempts to also stop a Mayan apocalypse from destroying modern civilization.

Gamers can pick up a copy of Shadow of the Tomb Raider this September 14, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
