Treyarch's Studio Design Director David Vonderhaar has announced a number of changes to the skills' system in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Taking to Twitter Vonderhaar wrote:
1. Skill redistribution. The skill level in Champions is so high it puts everyone in a high bracket. +

2. FaL is out. Kap 40 stays. It was nerfed recently. 3. Map and mode rotational changes as well.

… next season, you may be in a lower division but that doesn't mean we think less of you. Just a better distribution. Same skill ranking.

As mentioned, the FAL assault rifle is being removed though the KAP-40 automatic pistol will remain. It's not clear how much impact the "map and mode" rotational changes will have but presumably it won't be too long before they're introduced and we find out.
Yesterday, the Vengeance map pack landed on Xbox 360 and you can watch gameplay footage which highlights the new Zombies mpa Buried as well as the paintball themed map Rush here. As always, Vengeance is a timed exclusive DLC and will make it to other platforms eventually.
The next entry in the Call of Duty series, Ghosts, is set to be an entirely new story and is due to launch on both current and next-gen consoles later this year.
