As earlier announced, Polyphony Digital is releasing the Gran Turismo 6 demo today, available until July 30. It will be a 1.1 GB download to be made ready when the Playstation Store updates in your region. In development since November 2011, the full game is set to feature 1,200 cars, 33 locations, and 71 layouts, as well as brand new game and physics engines. GT 6 is set to release November this year. Polyphony Digital is planning to extend the game's lifespan via DLC, and even a possible PS4 port down the line.

With the release of the demo is the start of the 2013 GT Academy online qualifiers at 8 PM GMT/UTC. GT Academy is described as a 'virtual-to-reality' competition that will allow players to compete for the opportunity to join the Nissan racing team, as a driver of the Nissan GT-R GT3.
To join, contestants must download the demo and play through four non-competitive rounds. Before entering the qualifying fifth round, they will be prompted to agree to the terms and conditions. Depending on results, winners from participating regions will then move on to further stages of the competition.
Participating regions include US, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Russia, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, and Portugal. Contestants are also required to keep contact details complete and updated on PSN.
Introduced in 2008, Gran Turismo Academy boasts having had eight graduates who've gone on to become career racers.
