League of Legends has opened up transfers to the beta for their new Oceanic servers for Australia, New Zealand, Guam, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Fiji and the Northern Mariana Islands. Riot Games promises Oceania will get English language support, dedicated servers, and a dedicated website, complete with their own forums.
The FAQ reveals more details, such as limited transfer of data between servers. You will be able to carry your entire rune inventory and in-client rewards over, but community based data, such as forum badges and ribbons are non-transferable, as well as ranked team and league stats.
Transfers are currently available for players in servers in North America, Russia, Turkey, LATAM, EUNE and EUW. Interestingly enough, players on nearby South East Asian Garena servers aren't supported yet and will have to wait. While the servers are still starting out, in-game purchases, sign-ups and name changes will not be available.
To celebrate the launch, Riot Games will be hosting the Oceanic Season 3 tournament online on July 6 to 14. The top four teams will go to PAX Australia on July 19-21 to compete for a $ 40,000 pot, with the 1st place winner bagging $ 20,000, 2nd place $ 10,000 and 3rd and 4th place $ 5,000 respectively. Winning at PAX Australia also gives the teams a chance to go to the League of Legends Season 3 World Championship playoffs in Cologne, Germany.
League of Legend has been ramping up its presence in Australia this year, having opened a new studio in Syndey just this February,
