UPDATE: Ellen Page has agreed on Twitter with Naughty Dog that the reaction to her comments regarding The Last of Us were "overblown" and said she's "Looking forward" to playing the game.
.@Naughty_Dog I agree! Looking forward to playing #TheLastofUs
— Ellen Page (@EllenPage) June 26, 2013
ORIGINAL STORY: In a recent AMA on Reddit Canadian actress Ellen Page was asked for her thoughts on the character of Ellie (above right) in The Last of Us who many believed was played by Page when the game was initially revealed.
Page, who is set to appear as Jodie (above left) alongside Willem Dafoe in Quantic Dream's Beyond, wrote: "I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a videogame called Beyond: Two Souls, so it was not appreciated."
Naughty Dog toned down the appearance of Ellie after Page was revealed as an actor in Beyond and concept art for The Last of Us shows the character went through several iterations before Naughty Dog settled on the final design. Although Naughty Dog has said the change was made so that the character better reflected Ashley Johnson's personality, who actually performed the role.
Shortly after Page's comments Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann took to Twitter to affirm that Johnson was in fact the actor who brought Ellie to life saying the character was "perfectly played" and that "no one could have done a better job."
Page also commented in the AMA that she played games "more when I was a kid" but added that she'd recently gotten back into gaming commenting "I played the latest Tomb Raider and really enjoyed it, finished in about 12 hours."
She has previously called her role in Beyond her most "challenging" performance to date.
The Last of Us is out now while Beyond: Two Souls is set to be released in October, both games are PS3 exclusives.
