Ubisoft has released an official commentary of its E3 trailer for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag which you can see below.
The trailer looks at an actual event during the time Blackbird was pursued by the British. All of the series' major assassinations also occur at the correct historic time and place.
Black Flags is set prior to the events of Assassin's Creed 3 and focuses on Connor's grandfather, Edward. In the Assassins' war against their ancient enemies, the Templars, Edward becomes a pirate and his ship, the Jackdaw, has been described by Ubisoft as his "U.S.S. Enterprise".
Black Flag is set to be released on October 31st for PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360. The game is also in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC though it's unclear when those versions of Black Flag will be available. PlayStation owners will gain access to exclusive content featuring Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation protagonist Aveline.
For a look at how the game will perform on next-gen consoles compared to current systems Ubisoft released a video in which the title's developers discuss making the game for PS4.
Ubisoft currently has three Assassin's Creed games in development, the company's CEO Yves Guillemot recently revealed.
