A lot of information regarding Dark Souls 2 still remains in question. In an interview with Dark Souls 2 director, Yui Tanimura, he answered a lot of questions regarding story and magic dismissively. Most of his answered urged that fans wait for future announcements but he did reveal a bit of new information.
From the interview on NerdReactor, I pulled a few key points that Dark Souls 2 fans might find interesting.
- Dark Souls 2 is 60% completed
- 58% more people are working on creating environments
- With the addition of dual wielding, the team used motion capture for the animations.
- New combos to improve the combat
- You can now aim your bow and move simultaneously
- Dark Souls 2 will make connections to the story and characters of previous games
- Dark Souls 2 should take a bit longer to complete than first Dark Souls
- Expect variations in magic categories
- Dark Souls 2 will implement servers for the PTP online
As for the specifics, Tanimura did not provide many details outside of what you can see in gameplay videos. Developers on Dark Souls 2 will hold the answers questions such as to the consequences of death, changes to magic and plot details, for a later date.
Dark Souls 2 will launch in March 2014 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
