Sony's Sid Shuman caught up with Bethesda's Pete Hines to talk about the studio's upcoming survival horror game, The Evil Within, which comes from Shinji Mikami. Best known for his work on Resident Evil, Mikami is currently developing the new survival horror game with his new studio, Tango Gameworks, to be published by Bethesda.
While talking about the game, Bethesda showcased some of the first ever footage of The Evil Within, which begins in a bathroom in which the game's protagonist is hanging suspended by his legs, surrounded by dead bodies, all of which appear to have been suspended the same way he was—and unlike him, were killed.
The protagonist, who appears to be a cop, must sneak out of the room while his would-be killer is distracted.
Pete Hines states that the game will not be scripted to provide a linear experience and will instead offer differing experiences each time you play through it. As such, enemies will not be predictable, so players will have to think on their feet and handle the situation as circumstances vary.
