Ready at Dawn, best known for their PSP God of War games, announced their first original IP, The Order: 1886, at E3 this week and studio president Ru Weerisuriya has informed Polygon that the game was in development limbo for "years" until they got their hands on PS4 dev kits.
Weerisuriya said the change from developing on PSP to developing on PS4 wasn't that signficiant "Ultimately you don't change your thinking when developing for one system or another. Your thinking is you maximise what is capable on the PSP or PS4 hardware. The PSP was actually very powerful."
However, he says current-gen consoles were not up to the task of meeting the studio's ambitions for the game. Before the title's announcement Weerisuriya said "all the stars are aligning" and that development is "going very well".
The Order: 1886 is set in a alternative history London which sees humanity at war against a host of supernatural enemies in a post-industrial revolution setting which sees air ships and pulse guns. While not much is known about The Order: 1886 the game's logo appears to be a Celtic cross possibly suggesting Irish or Scottish mythological influences for the enemies you'll be facing.
The PS4 exclusive title does not currently have a release date but you can check out the announcement trailer below.
