The world of Wolfenstein is a unique one, in that nothing that Americans know and love today truly exists. Instead of the U.S. being the first to develop and drop nuclear weapons on its enemy, the Nazis have taken control through early development of their high-tech weapon. This has allowed the elite group of soldiers to take hold of other countries, and eventually, win World War II. That’s bad for America, but in the mind of hero B.J. Blazkowicz, it’s not even close to the end.
An E3 trailer has been released before the LA show to display some of the action-packed gameplay stuffed into this 1960’s shooter. We’ve seen concept art and an announcement trailer from developer MachineGames as of late, but this is the first, solid sign of all the moving parts working together. And while you may not know this ragtag group of developers comprised of former StarBreeze employees, the team is well versed in this classic franchise.
"As fans of the series, working on this game is an honour, and our team is driven to create an unforgettable action-adventure experience that will make FPS fans proud," said MachineGames' creative director Jens Matthias in a press release.
The series has been rebooted in the past with little success, but with The New Order riding the next-gen wave later this year, it’s possible that people will latch on. Look for Wolfenstein: The New Order to makes its way to PlayStation 3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC later this year.
