Exciting news, as the most that we were expecting were screenshots or official character art from the game. After the announcement of Super Smash Bros. Brawl Nintendo launched the Smash Bros. Dojo, where they slowly revealed new additions to the game up until launch. Here’s to hoping we’ll get something similar, because it was a great way to build up hype.
One change that I know all of us are hoping for is the removal of the prat falling. Whenever the control stick is smashed in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there’s a chance that your character will randomly trip over, leaving them prone to attack. Since it’s a completely random element tied strictly to chance, it has been an extremely unpopular mechanic in the Smash and fighting game community. It’s made especially clear when EVO, one of the largest fighting game events in the world, chooses to feature the older Super Smash Bros. Melee, rather than the newer Brawl.
Now’s when character speculation and discussion goes wild. I’d personally love to have some Fire Emblem: Awakening, Animal Crossing or Advance Wars characters as fighters. And since third party characters have appeared in Smash before, there’s even more to wish for. Franziska von Karma would be great in a fighting game! Who are you hoping for in this next installment?
