Over the weekend a large poster on the Los Angeles Covention Center, where E3 will be held next week, suggested a release date of March 2014 for Dark Souls 2. Now, the game's publisher, Namco Bandai, has confirmed the release month to Eurogamer.
A specific launch date for the title has not yet been announced. The title is set to be released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game's director, Yui Tanimura, has said that there's "no intent" at the moment to bring the game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One adding "We feel the potential for current gen is still there and we want to deliver it to current gen consoles."
Namco Bandai has said it's treating the game as a "massive, massive AAA title," and one which will benefit from a significant marketing campaign which the original Dark Souls, and its spiritual predecessor Demon Souls, did not have. It would appear that the E3 signs are just the start of what we can expect to see about the game in adverstising over the coming months.
WIdely regarded as one of the most difficult game series out there you can watch Dark Souls 2's trailer here. For a taster of what to expect PlayStation Plus subscribers in Europe can currently pick up Demon Souls for free.
Namco Bandai isn't the only company which has been putting up posters around LA. Several signs for Square Enix's Final Fantasy: Lightning Returns XIII have been spotted around the city.
