Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Development Nearing Home Stretch

May 29, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

The development of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is nearing completion.

Lightning returns

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is 70 percent complete. It's one of the few Final Fantasy games currently in development at Square Enix, alongside Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD. Unfortunately, details about Final Fantasy Versus XIII remain nonexistent.

This information was dug out by Famitsu, which revealed the details over Twitter.

According to the publication, Final Fantasy X HD and Final Fantasy 8 PC are both nearing the end of their development cycles , while Final Fantasy X-2 HD is progressing ahead at 65 percent completion. Lightning Returns, the most awaited game of the lot, is at 70 percent completion and should soon be entering the home stretch.

Lightning Returns, which is slated for a late 2013 release, looks like it's well on schedule and should have no problem meeting its release window. It'll be out on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.
