Games are expensive. Unless you’ve got stacks of cash sitting next to that Xbox 360 rumbling in your house, it’s difficult to play each and every piece of software that you would like to in a single year. And with the upcoming release of next-generation hardware, your wallet might be howling just a bit louder come holiday 2013. However, if you’re interested in the upcoming Disney Infinity that’s launching on every console under the sun at the end of the summer, expect to pay a pretty penny for each and every figurine released.
How much? According to a listing on the GameStop website, owners of the core game will pay $13.99 for a new character. Just for comparison’s sake, an original Drobot figure from Skylanders is going for $9.99 new on the same website. It’s unknown just how official this pricing is, but buyers do have the ability to add the thing to their cart and place a pre-order. That seems like pretty serious business to me.
If you haven’t yet heard, Disney Infinity is all about creativity. Similar to Activision’s Skylanders franchise, Infinity will allow players to buy and make use of their favorite toys within a fully realized game world. Quests, races, and a slew of other activities will be accessible, and yes, it’s all wrapped around the Disney license. If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, make sure to set your sights on Disney Infinity when it launches for PC, PS3, 360, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS August 18.
