Sony's Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida has acknowledged for the first time the PS4 No DRM Campaign, which has erupted on Twitter over the last several days, by trolling everyone.
With the news that Death Ray Mantra (or DRM) would be coming to PS Vita Yoshida commented:
"Death Ray Manta" coming to PlayStation Vita! #DRMPSVita inquisitr.com/678568/death-r…
— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) May 29, 2013
Sony Senior Business Development Manager Shadid Kamal Ahmad replied to Yoshida's Tweet saying:
@yosp That’s right Shuhei, we are going to have “DRM” on PlayStation Vita. 😉
— Shahid Kamal Ahmad (@shahidkamal) May 29, 2013
Previously, key employees at the PlayStation maker, including Kamal, responded to the campaign saying that the company is listening and that they admire the passion of their fans. The company's vice president of publisher and developer relations, Adam Boyes, has also commented that the campaign "is working pretty well."
It seems like a good sign that Yoshida and Kamal are joking about the matter as it would be a serious slap in the face of prospective PS4 owners to now announce a significant set of DRM restrictions for the system.
The PS4 No DRM campaign emerged following a NeoGAF post which was written in response to rumours begun by GameTrailer's Geoff Keighley that Sony's next console would have features to block or curtail used games.
As for Death Ray Mantra, the developer insists the game is being produced from the ground up for the handheld and is not a port.
