GTA 5 to Feature Permanent Character Scarring

May 27, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Grand Theft Auto takes a leaf out of Fable’s book with permanent scars.

New information on Grand Theft Auto 5 has been unearthed on Reddit including permanent scars and other wounds on the three main protagonists in the game; Franklin, Trevor and Michael.

"Sometimes damages (like wounds, bullets holes…) will leave marks on the body of the characters forever," it has been revealed.

As has been pointed out Trevor shouts "bring me coffee or I'll cut your arm off!" while shirtless in his character trailer and you can clearly see a scar on his abdomen. It's not clear is this wound was there from the start or if it was picked up in game.

One Reddit user, who claims to have seen a press demo of the game, says there seems to be no frame-rate issues in what he saw of the game played on console although there is the occassional texture pop-up.

In response to questions about how the game's graphics compare the user commented that "It looked more polished, much more colourful [than GTA] IV – it looked better, but not trailer-level. I'm not sure about driving, it was a hands-off demo, but from the looks of it, it was IV-like, without cars being so boat-like."

It's noted that "Some of the problems that [are] associated with the low capacity of some platforms still exist, like the number of cars on the street…"

So far, Grand Theft Auto 5 has only been announced for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A version of the game for PS4, PC or Xbox One has not yet been revealed although the game has been listed for Xbox One. Rockstar has also confirmed that all trailers and screenshots so far released are from current generation consoles.

Last week, Rockstar announced the Special and Collector's Editions of the Grand Theft Auto 5. The game is set to be released on September 17th.
