Your Xbox Live Gold Membership Will Work On Both The 360 And The Xbox One

May 24, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Gee, thanks Microsoft.

It would honestly appear that not a single soul has been impressed by the Xbox One thus far. Not only was the reveal a confusing bore, but all the real bits of info that has been shared in its wake has been enough to get some people legitimately upset.

Everything from absolutely needing an internet connection, to having to fork over money for the privilege of using a game disc that you paid full price for already on a friend's console. Even the name has been panned universally.

One conclusion that many have come to is that Microsoft has lost their minds and could care less about their customers. It's an understandable assumption to be certain, but they did announce one tiny thing that's actually not bad news for once.

Polygon reports that Xbox Live Gold memberships are cross compatible. Meaning, if you have a Gold account already, for your 360, if indeed decide to get the One later this holiday season, you won't have to sign up for another account. And that's nice.

Seems rather logical and sensible as well, right? Given all the wacky decisions that MS has made, pretty much anything they've actually done right should be highlighted and applauded.

At the very least, not having to fork over money for Gold twice takes the sting out of having to pay a fee to play a game at some else's place, like at a party, for a game you already own. Trust me, you will be in such a position eventually… we all will.
