Many were perplexed (as well as incensed, along with flat out bored) with the all the talk about Sports, TV, and Sports TV during yesterday's Xbox One reveal.
The NFL got a good amount of attention, and while it's true that many football fans love the game of Madden, not all gamers out there love the game of football (or sports in general).
But thanks to the Associated Press, we finally have a reason why the National Football League got so much of the spotlight in the first place, one that might have been shared with, say, Halo, Gears of War, or any game really.
Apparently the new partnership that was revealed, which includes a NFL app for the Xbox One, is worth over $400 million dollars over the next five years.
Because the financial details are still hush hush, the AP's source has remained anonymous, when asked for clarification by other outlets, Microsoft has refused to comment.
Again, the NFL will have a major presence on Microsoft's console, but the agreement goes further than that. This upcoming season will see Microsoft's name plus its various products pop up all over the place.
Coaches and other officials will be sporting Windows Surface tablets for example, plus other technological goodies from MS will surely pop up here and there.
Once more, MS is serious about television and sporting events, and the partnership makes plenty of dollars and sense. But for those who are worried that they’re forgetting about what brought them to the dance in the first place, i.e. games, the deal is sure to rub them the wrong way even further.
