Planetside 2 is set to receive update 9 this week, which adds rush lanes and a possible drop in weapons prices. Dubbed GU09 (Game Update 9), the new update was revealed by the game's Creative Director Matthew Higby on Twitter, who stated that Lattice, or rush lanes, would be getting added to Indar.
For those not in the know, the Lattice system is designed to overhaul the continent map and force players into hotly contested areas. Effectively, this would cut down sporadic battles across the map and pull the action into these hot zones by creating specific lanes of attack.
For an in-depth look into the new system, you can check out Higby's announcement post here.
In addition to rush lanes, the game may see a significant drop in weapons and boost prices, so players will be able to gain access to the weapons they want a lot sooner.
In related news, Planetside is 10 years old today. The original game, which was first released in 2003, celebrates its 10th anniversary since the Terran Republic, Vanu Sovereignty, and New Conglomerate first went to war.
To celebrate the game's 10th birthday, every former player of Planetside is being granted a membership to the first game for free.
