At first, PUBG the massively popular third-person shooter from PUBG Corp, only had one map that players would be able to drop into, a couple of months later the devs deployed a desert themed map. Unfortunately, the seemingly basic feature to select a map to play had been omitted from the game- and fans haven’t been impressed.
PUBG Corp has gone on record to state that the reason the feature was omitted was that it would cause matchmaking issues. Now it seems that the feature will actually be deployed and we can expect it pretty soon.
Here’s what they had to say:
We’ve created a version of map selection that we think is unlikely to cause issues for matchmaking. That said, we’ll still have to keep a close eye on it, since it could become problematic as new maps continue to be added. The UI of this feature may be different when implemented in the actual game, but here’s the basic explanation of how it works:
-
You can select the maps you want to play with a click.
-
If you don’t want to play a map, simply unselect it.
-
If you’ve selected more than one map, the game will randomly pick one for you each match.
PUBG is out now for PC and Xbox One.
