Grand Theft Auto 5 will be making its way to consoles and computers on September 17 of this year. Due to the fact that its release is getting ever closer, information pertinent to the game and its features will be in good supply.
The first of this information comes in the trailer above. Though this is obviously fake, and depicts what appears to be New York City, it's no less a part of the Grand Theft Auto V media library. We believe it to be a technology demo for next-generation consoles.
A new page on the Rockstar Games website reveals that the game will follow the stories of three different characters: Franklin, Michael and Trevor. They all have their own, unique backstories that will play into the overarching storyline of Grand Theft Auto V.
Franklin is described as, "a street hustler looking for real opportunities and serious money." Michael is "a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be. Finally, there's Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score.
Furthermore, Rockstar has been keeping up with its "Crew" system, that tracks player groups across all of their different games. They've noted the successes of various crews on this page, and highlight how these features will be portrayed in Grand Theft Auto V. The real news here comes in the form of the first sentence of the page, which reads, "We haven't detailed the features of Grand Theft Auto V's online mode as yet (stay tuned for first info soon)."
With that said, it will be interesting to see what new information comes out of Rockstar. Much of the data up until this point has been fake or simply concocted by the rumor mill. Having something more concete to go off of – especially in the multiplayer portion – will be a huge take for the GTA community.
