Gran Turismo 6 Debut Trailer Released, New Details Emerge

May 15, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

It may not be coming to the PlayStation 4, but the future of GT6 is still bright.

Don’t count the PlayStation 3 out quite yet. Although Sony will be launching its PlayStation 4 during the holiday season, new games and experiences will still make their way to current-gen technology in order to satisfy the existing install base. One of the biggest, most well-known titles among this group, Gran Turismo 6, has just been confirmed today, and a new trailer has been released in order to show potential buyers why they should still care about that black box attached to the TV.

If you’re a fan of this franchise, you probably have some sort of affinity for cars. If so, you’ll be happy to hear that GT6 will feature all of the cars and tracks from GT5, with the addition of historic, road, and race vehicles. This will bring the total car count to a staggering 1200 right at launch, with thousands of custom wheels and aerodynamic parts also available for players.

Don’t think that Gran Turismo 6 will go out of style soon after release, though. According to series creator Yamauchi, the future is something that the team has thought quite a bit about.

“We have refactored the game to make it very flexible and expandable, with a view to making many future developments,” he said. “I am very pleased with everything about the new game and the new additions, but the launch will be only the beginning for GT6. The game will continue to develop throughout its life. I already have many ideas for things I want to achieve in the next 15 years of Gran Turismo."

Look to experience the revamped physics engine, new suspension, tyre, and aerodynamics modeling when Gran Turismo 6 hits the PlayStation 3 later this year.
