According to Joystiq, 5th Cell has confirmed the existence of the rumoured Scribblenauts Unmasked. The full title is Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure, and the game will include more than 2,000 heroes, villains, and other extracts from the long and varied history of DC Comics. That number will include 33 versions of Batman and 130 characters from Green Lantern, the latter group including the sentient planet Mogo. The game will also allow you to make customised characters, but the official DC characters will each get a written biography.
While Maxwell is the protagonist again, he will apparently be joined by his twin sister Lily, the damsel in distress voiced by Jennifer Hale who was in the process of slowly turning to stone throughout Scribblenauts Unlimited. Joystiq has no word on whether Lily is a playable character or just a sidekick, however.
An interesting piece of information in the last paragraph of the Joystiq article is that the “heroic feats” that Maxwell must complete throughout the game are puzzles that are procedurally generated, each aspect chosen from a list of characters, locations, and potential tasks. Naturally, Maxwell will solve these puzzles by writing objects and adjectives in his magical notebook.
The game will apparently launch for 3DS, Wii U, and PC this fall, though there's no mention of which regions that applies to. Scribblenauts Unlimited still isn't available in the UK, so it's unclear whether players over here will have to wait even longer for this next game to come out.
