War Thunder: Ground Forces, the multiplayer combat flight simulator being developed by Russian studio Gaijin Entertainment, will be heading to the PlayStation 4 later this year. The military MMO is currently being tested on the PC in an open beta, and takes place from the pre-World War II era to the early goings of the Korean War.
The next generation is almost here, and while Ground Forces will likely find a strong audience on the PC, Gaijin has big plans for this new-found partnership with Sony.
"We're convinced that our cooperation with Sony will not only make the War Thunder franchise better, but it will give our fans a new level of gaming experience that will figuratively blown their mind," said Gaijin Entertainment’s Creative Director Kirill Yudintsev in the company’s official release.
There are 1.5 million players who have at least given the massive Ground Forces a go on the PC, and along with the game’s console debut, a mobile release is planned to add a whole new dimension to the experience.
"Partnering with Sony Computer Entertainment is the most natural progression for the War Thunder brand, from our hugely successful beginnings on PC with more than 1.5 million players, to our recent announcement that War Thunder is under development for mobile devices," he said. "We are excited to bring War Thunder to the leading next-generation platform, the PS4."
Holiday 2013 is the projection, and if this is true, War Thunder: Ground Forces will only add to what some people think is the strongest launch lineup of all time.
