A new trailer for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y has been released today by the Nintendo company showcasing some of the addition being made to the first 3D set of Pokemon games which will be released exclusively on 3DS this October.
The trailer highlights the fact that trainers will now be able to ride Pokemon around although it seems unlikely this feature will completely replace the bicycle system which has been present since the original games.
In a press release GameFreak commented that players will be transported to "A mysterious place that is shaped like a star, Kalos is a region where players will encounter beautiful forests, thriving cities, and many never-before-seen Pokemon. The central city of this breathtaking region is Lumiose City, a metropolis featuring a tower that is set to become an iconic structure in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y."
Gamers are promised that there will be "many new Pokemon" in X and Y. Four of the new pocket monsters are Gogoat, Helioptile, Fletchling and Panchum. Gogoat, the animal you see the trainer in the trailer riding is a grass type Pokemon, it's currently unclear if you'll be able to use other Pokemon as a means of ground transportation. Of course, Pokemon with Surf and Pokemon with Fly have always been used to bring trainers around the games but this hasn't extended to other types of Pokemon until now.
Fletching is a normal and flying type Pokemon. Helioptile is a normal and electric type Pokemon described as "cowardly". Panchum meanwhile is a fighting type Pokemon.
The trailer, below, highlights many of the new Pokemon as well as an aesthetic overhaul to both general gameplay and battling.
A new Mewtwo evolution as well as a new Eevee have already been revealed.
