Killzone: Shadow Fall may still be the talk of all the Helghan towns, but that doesn’t mean that we should forget about its little brother. Killzone: Mercenary, the PlayStation Vita title being developed by Guerilla Cambridge, will be making its debut before too long, and a brand new trailer has found its way onto the internet that shows some fresh gameplay footage.
First off, this isn’t from the official PlayStation YouTube page. The subtitles are in Russian, the video description is in Spanish, and somehow, the audio is in English. However, there’s plenty to like in this leaked trailer. The commentary goes more in-depth on the core of the campaign, which involves pulling off contacted kills in order to gain a little bit of extra spending money. The visuals may not stack up to the likes of Killzone 2 or Killzone 3, but for a handheld experience, Mercenary is quite the looker. Those who have seen the game in action have marveled over its steady framerate, detailed character models, and crisp textures.
Mercenary doesn’t stray too far away from the original trilogy, though. The narrative picks up right after the ending of the original Killzone, and follows ISA employee and mercenary Arran Danner. You won’t be seeing the bright blues and shimmering lights witnessed in Shadow Fall’s February presentation this time around – this one’s all about the browns and grays.
Still, Killzone: Mercenary is a Vita game to watch. Expect to download and play it on that OLED screen when it launches Sept. 17.
