Sony has released another short TV spot for The Last of Us, the upcoming dystopian survival game from Naughty Dog. The video is – of course – short, but it's still worth a watch for the brief clips from the game. We also get a voiceover from Ellie, the young ward/cargo of protagonist Joel whom Naughty Dog refused to move to the back of the box when it was suggested. In her 30-second monologue she wonders what lengths she'll go to to survive, which is presumably supposed to get the player thinking the same thing and wondering what they'll have to do over the course of the game.
“The world's been hard on us, hard on him. Joel's done some terrible things. He tells me that on this journey you either hang onto your morals and die, or do whatever it takes to survive. I guess I'll find out.”
As Ellie speaks, we see hints of new footage. Joel stands in front of a house with an axe in his hand as Ellie mentions that he's done “some terrible things”. Joel, Ellie, and another figure – presumably Tess, who is voiced by Annie Wersching – ride horses as Ellie talks about their journey. Joel bashes a guy (who looks like he's pleading for his life) over the head with a blunt instrument as she talks about survival.
The Last of Us will see players fight creatures known as the Infected in a dystopian world. The game will launch for PS3 on June 14.
