Ever since Rockstar released three new trailers for Grand Theft Auto 5, word down the grapevine (or at least gaming forums) was that the screenshots were taken on the PC, or on a next-gen console. The suggestion was furthered by the release of dozens of screenshots for the game in recent days, all of which depicted the game with seemingly high-resolution graphics that seemed, at least to the eyes of everyone who insisted they were next-gen, "too beautiful to be current-gen."
Today, a Rockstar spokesperson has put the rumors to rest by stating once and for all that the screenshots were taken from the current generation of consoles, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
"To @icharyd and others who are asking, these screens are from the current generation of consoles," wrote R*A, a Rockstar employee in the comments under one of the screenshot posts on the Rockstar's Newswire service.
A screenshot of his statement can be seen below:
As you can see from the date, it's a statement they've made before in the past, but it's one that bears repeating as the rumors surface time and time again.
