In a livestream from Shoryuken.com, Joey Cuellar (@EvilMrWizard) has announced that EVO 2013 is adding NetherRealms' Injustice: Gods Among Us to the tournament lineup. Details were slim in the announcement, but the excitement on twitter has been overwhelming. This brings EVO's tournament lineup to a whopping nine games. I wish the staff the best in arranging the schedules, as this seems to be a difficult and demanding event to organize. These are the nine games currently scheduled for EVO:
1. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
2. Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012
3. Tekken Tag Tournament 2
4. Mortal Kombat 9
5. Street Fighter X Tekken version 2013
6. King of Fighters 13
7. Persona 4 Arena
8. Super Smash Bros Melee
9. Injustice: Gods Among Us
Joey Cuellar also answered a few questions from twitter during the livestream. One user asked why Lab Zero Games' Skullgirls wasn't added to the roster instead, since it was 2nd in the fundraiser to decide EVO's 8th game (which Smash Bros. Melee won). Cuellar responded that it didn't feel right to reward a 2nd place finish and that it was hard to determine Injustice's hype at the time since it wasn't released when the lineup was decided. Another viewer asked how on earth they were going to manage nine games in a weekend tournament, and Cuellar's reply was that some fans will inevitably be disappointed. It'll be next to impossible to stream every single game as the tournaments are going on, so he tells us all to "Get to EVO!" Sound advice for fighting game enthusiasts everywhere.
EVO is one of the largest fighting game tournaments in the world and takes place annually in Las Vegas. This year, it'll be at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino from July 12th to the 14th.
