As of right now, the only devices that we know Grand Theft Auto 5 will be available on Sept. 17 are the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. These will likely be the leading platforms, but that doesn’t mean that the open-world epic won’t somehow find its way to other boxes. And according to a recent listing on the German version of Amazon, the PC could be seeing some crime-themed love this fall.
This product page, which is covered in German text, clearly displays a PC listing for GTA 5. At this time, Rockstar is unwilling to comment too heavily on the possible release, but the developer has never plainly denied the concept.
"We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market,” Rockstar VP Dan Houser stated last year. “If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.”
These consoles are still being considered, but what seems set in stone at this point is what people will get when purchasing the special edition of the game. The contents were leaked earlier today by another German outlet, and can be seen below:
– SteelBook with exclusive Artwork
– World map
– Stunt-Planes challenges
– Online-Store concessions
– Bonus outfits
– Bonus Tattoos
– Special Abilities Booster
– Exclusive weapons
Grand Theft Auto 5 is going to sell well no matter what platforms it launches on. But with the strong modding community and superior graphics of modern PCs, there’s a loud crowd hoping this rumor is true.
