Time to stomp on some demon heads in crystal clear 4k resolution! id Software has just launched a new update for DOOM, enabling 4K enhancements for both Xbox One and PS4 Pro. Unfortunately, id Software didn’t state whether the 4K enhancement is native 4K or upscaled 4K – which makes me believe that it was more likely the latter (there is usually more hype with news like this if it ends up being native 4K).
As with most of these 4K updates, you’ll probably need quite a bit of hard drive space – so make sure you do some freeing up before hitting download.
‘Developed by id software, the studio that pioneered the first-person shooter genre and created multiplayer Deathmatch, DOOM returns as a brutally fun and challenging modern-day shooter experience. Relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat – whether you’re obliterating demon hordes through the depths of Hell in the single-player campaign, or competing against your friends in numerous multiplayer modes.’
DOOM is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Nintendo Switch. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancement patches will both be available from today
