Call of Duty: Ghosts Leaked Information and Theories

May 4, 2013 by Jacob Saylor

Some new, leaked information has hit the web.

The next-generation Call of Duty: Ghost has been the subject of multitudes of speculation. While some theories are better than others, one Youtuber consistently brings forth some good ideas.

His channel name is Drift0r, and yesterday he published a video that highlighted some of the already known information and some new, leaked reveals.

One of the biggest pieces of information that was revealed by Drift0r was that the upcoming Ghosts will feature an all-new world, story and characters. This means that the characters from previous Modern Warfare titles will not be making a return. Sorry guys and gals, Ghost won't be the main character of this game.

Another revelation is that the game will be set in the future, but use current-generation weapons. According to Drift0r's source, the reasons for using older weapons in the future will be facilitated through the game's storyline. This is an extremely vague statement, but Drift0r goes in-depth, citing his own speculative theory which suggests that perhaps the guns will feature some sort of Metal Gear Solid 4-type thumbprint or nano-scanner, forcing the protagonists to use older weapons.

Drift0r's idea regarding the game's plot actually matches our own here at Gameranx. We believe that the game may revolve around an overthrown government, where you play as resistance fighters attempting to regain control. Whether or not this is the result of a tyrannical government/coup detat or an invasion, we don't know. However, we'd bet on the first, considering Modern Warfare 2 focused upon the latter. That said, the game is named Call of Duty, so maybe we're wrong.

Furthermore, it's been reported that Infinity Ward is getting rid of spawn countdowns and adding "dynamic" spawning. An example of this mechanic would be rappelling down from a helicopter at your respective spawn area. This would add an element of interactivity to the boring process of death, and we think it'd be a swell addition to the multiplayer portion of the game.

Finally, the game will feature a new engine created by Infinity Ward. Considering the entry will be on next-generation consoles such as the Playstation 4 and the next Xbox, we're fairly certain that the game will be a sight to behold. With a new generation comes a newly-ignited spark of innovation, and hopefully we'll see that in Call of Duty: Ghosts.
