Sony’s handheld console, the PS Vita launched 7 years back to an unprepared market. There was no real reason or hype to buy the console back in 2011, and since then there still hasn’t been much of a reason – which means that the following news might not surprise you. PlayStation Spain confirmed on Twitter that the PS Vita has been officially discontinued in the territory.
Hola! Efectivamente está descatalogada, sí.
— PlayStation España (@PlayStationES) March 19, 2018
The above tweet came as a response to a fan who asked if the console was still in production, to which PlayStation’s Spain account replied, “Hello! It’s actually discontinued, yes.” This means that the console may have actually been out of production for quite some time and we just didn’t know about it until now. I suppose that just goes to show that the console truly is dead.
