Spark Unlimited and Capcom have unveiled a host of new details about Lost Planet 3's "Akrid Survival" and "Scenario" modes, both of which are offered as a part of the game's multiplayer package.
The details follow in the wake of the Lost Planet 3 multiplayer trailer, released yesterday, which showcased the game's cooperative combat, mech action, and the Akrid (Zerg, Tyranid knock-offs) that you'll have to face throughout the game's single-player and multiplayer modes.
In Akrid Survival, three teams of players (as opposed to a single team, in Gears of War 3's horde mode) compete against each other while taking on a throng of Akrid. Surviving teams will have to battle each other in a PvP round to determine the ultimate winner.
In Scenario mode, two teams of players are given defensive and offensive challenges that will see them switching up their tactics, from seeking cover and holding positions to laying down heavy fire. The mode is a lot like the classic Return to Castle Wolfenstein's default mode, which sees two teams of players with competing objectives.
The details were released with a host of screenshots, which you can see below.
in addition to the multiplayer screenshots, Spark Unlimited has also produced a host of screenshots for the game's single player campaign. Check those out below.
Lost Planet 3 is set for release this summer on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3—on August 27. Though originally slated for an early 2013 release, it goes without saying that the game has since slipped its original date.
