Last Friday (April 19), Uber Entertainment hosted a livestream during which various members of the team demonstrated gameplay from the upcoming Planetary Annihilation for the first time. While the game is nowhere near what it'll look like when it's done, the way the game will play should look familiar in the final product.
First of all, we get to see a commander moving around on a planet's surface, building a few things, and the effects when buildings go up. The terrain of the planet will affect how the game plays out, with height differences coming into play. Each planet is also procedurally generated, so each will be different, though there are types like an earth planet, metal planet, etc.
Players will be able to zoom the camera in close to the surface, and see tanks driving through the forests and things like that. The camera will automatically tilt as the player zooms in, which will make things easier for players who like to look at things right on the ground.
The livestream also included questions, and the team reveals info like that there will be a naval element to the game, and there will be tools of some form for modders. Apparently, planets can vary in size, down to the size of asteroids. To find out more, watch the video; it's nearly twenty minutes long but includes some interesting information. Uber Entertainment is aiming to get the alpha up and running by the end of May, so if you backed the game on Kickstarter you should be able to start playing it soon.
