Rayman Legends may have started as a simple Wii U exclusive, but multiple delays – even after development was completed – have cast a dark cloud over the charming project. The story may not be over, though, as this Ubisoft game is now being listed for the PlayStation Vita by international retailer FNAC.
It’s safe to saythat Legends has had a difficult time making it to the marketplace. The colorful platformer was first expected to launch Nov. 20, 2012 as one of the premier Wii U games, but was instead pushed to an early 2013 date. Things got even trickier when Ubisoft decided it wanted the title on more than just Nintendo’s dual-screened device. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game pushed the launch back even further, causing fans to protest the constant delays through a petition. Even Michel Ancel, the creator of the series, disagreed with the publisher's actions.
Now, The Silent Chief has discovered a PlayStation Vita listing on international retailer FNAC’s website. The company is the largest entertainment retailer in France, and has leaked both the Jak & Daxter HD Collection for the PlayStation Vita and a delay for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us in the past.
What makes this news a bit difficult to follow is the date attached to the listing. FNAC has the game down for an August 29 release, but the console versions aren’t expected to launch until Sep. 27. If this rumor does prove to be true, it’s unlikely that the current date on the website is correct.
We do know that Rayman Legends will be coming to the Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 Sep. 27 – even if there is no portable release. At least, we hope so.
