French gaming website Jeuxvideo has published a features expose on the upcoming "Mortal Kombat" destined for the PS3 and 360 this April. The report is based on their hands-on session with the game.
"Mortal Kombat" features 26 characters (not counting possible secret characters) with two Fatality moves for each. Pro Attacks (from "MK vs DC Universe") make a return as Enhanced Attacks, and can only be performed when the bar is at half. How they work is as follows: when you perform a special move, you have the option to extend or amplify your attack by performing another special attack. Scorpion, for instance, throws three spears instead of a single one when his special attack is enhanced.
"Test your…" mini-games make a return in the new "Mortal Kombat," based on the original four aspects of Luck, Sight, Might and Strike as seen in the earlier games.
Like the most recent "Street Fighter," the game will have a variety of different game modes. Confirmed modes currently include Versus of up to 4 players including tag-team battles; Story, The Tower of Challenges, Kombat, an arcade mode that pits you against 10 opponents in a row; and Drive, a challenge where you have to perform the combo attacks displayed on screen. The new game will also contain a "Krypt" for all your unlocked content.
The game will be released alongside an online web-series starring Jeri Ryan and Michael Jai White.
