GameStop is the largest video game retailer in the world, and when they make a claim about something—it's one we need to take seriously.
In an interview with Forbes, GameStop president Tony Bartel stated that the retailer expects to see huge shortages for the PlayStation 4 upon its launch this holiday season. He confirmed that the retailer will offer pre-orders for the platform, and that buyers who opt into their PowerUp rewards program will be the first to know when it will be available.
Bartel cautioned that the price of the PlayStation 4 will make or break the console's success, and that he expects most gamers to trade in their current systems for cash and credit towards picking one up—should it be fairly priced.
Bartel shared his doubt that Sony will block used game sales, as has been predicted by other game analysts. He believes that Sony will make good on its word to do what's in the best interest of gamers with the PS4.
