You would have thought that after all the GDC discussion of Metal Gear 5: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes, Kojima would take a bit of a break. However, according to a fresh listing for an unknown project dubbed, “Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection,” it seems as if we’ve only seen the tip of the tactical iceberg.
A Korean video game rating board was first to spot the new listing and while it’s often easy to discount strange finds like this, this particular source has a good track record. It was first to discover information on Resident Evil: Revelations for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and it seems to have struck gold again with The Legacy Collection.
A screenshot of the listing, which indicates a release on the PlayStation 3, has been provided by GameChup:
What this product is, however, is difficult to determine. An HD Collection of the Metal Gear Solid series has already found its way to current-generation consoles, so there are quite a few ways to access these classics. But, a picture that Kojima recently Tweeted seems to indicate an upcoming project that features all of Solid Snake’s most notable missions, and that project could be The Legacy Collection.
If this product does turn out to be a comprehensive account of Konami’s flagship franchise, it may be the last time we hear Snake’s original voice in all its glory. David Hayter will not be involved in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid games, so fans of the grizzled timbre of Hayter may want to keep their eyes on The Legacy Collection.
