Nintendo has announced that Donkey Kong Country Returns, originally released for the Nintendo Wii, will be getting an overhaul for the 3DS.
In addition to some brand new levels and redesigned controls for the 3DS, the new version will come with a "New Mode" that's designed for newcomers of the series and cater to some of the complaints about the original's difficulty.
Players will have a larger health bar that increases the number of hits the player can take, and use additional items to make the game easier. DK can use a portable barrel to summon Diddy and destroy things in his path, save himself from dying in a pit with the aid of a green balloon, and a crash guard that allows DK to take multiple hits during mine cart and rocket levels.
In addition to the New Mode, players intent on playing the game as it was originally designed can choose to play the game in the Original Mode, with all of its difficulty intact.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is out on May 24 for the Nintendo eShop and at retail stores.
