Intel 510-series SSD’s Big Debut March 1

February 18, 2011 by Eric Swain

Intel’s new 510-series SSD will arrive in March.

Intel has their new SSD readly to launch this March and we have all the details on the new drives. Rumor has it that the new 510-series SSD will have a 2.5" form, 6Gbps Serial ATA interface, maxium read speed of 470MB.s, and the top write speed is 315MB/s. You can also expect these drives using a 34-nm flash memory. Now if these rumors are true then Intel could really take over the competition from SandForce drives which reads and write speeds under 300MB/s.

Now there are two options for the new SSD, 120GB and a 250GB.The lowest capactiy model of the SSD will cost around $300 but if you really want to go all out and pick up the 250GB SSD then you're looking at paying up to $620 for the new 510 series. I myself would love to give the drive a go after hearing about the rumor specs. However, we will have to wait until the official launch on March 1 to see how this drive really handles.
