Rumor: Crytek’s Ryse and a New Forza Among Xbox 720 Launch Titles

April 11, 2013 by Stephen Daly

Kinect to feature strongly in Xbox 720 launch titles report suggests.

Microsoft's next console will launch with ancient Rome based Kinect title Ryse as well as a new Forza according to The Verge.

Ryse was first revealed at E3 2010 as 'Codename: Kingdoms' and was officially titled as Ryse at E3 2011. Little has been heard of the game since however Crytek insisted in February that the game was still in development.

"We're are on track with all our plans," commented Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli. "The game is really shaping up well, but that's pretty much all I can say at the moment."

The game is being rewritten to take advantage of the new console's technologies and is apparently intended to be the equivalent of Halo: Combat Evolved and the first Gears of War – which were key launch games for the Xbox and Xbox 360 respectively, whether a Kinect title can have the same impace remains to be seen.

According to The Verge the Xbox 720 – or whatever Microsoft ultimately call their console – version of Forza will "have super life-like" graphics. According to the report these games will be accompanied by a zombie game and a family orientated island-based game with Pixar-like visuals. This title will use Kinect to scan players and create a virtual in-game avatar.

The Verge also says Xbox are planning to finally drop Microsoft Points in favour of local currencies upon the release of the Xbox 720.

Earlier today it was rumoured that the console would not require a constant internet connection to play games despite widespread expectations that this will be the case. It is believed that Microsoft will reveal the console on May 21st.
