CD Projekt Red, the developer behind the award-winning Witcher series as well as the ever mysterious Cyberpunk 2077 title has taken a stance on the whole lootbox controversy that has been plaguing gamers wallets for the past few years now.
“Where we stand is quite simple and you could see it with all of our past releases—most recently The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and GWENT,” CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwiński told PC Gamer. “If you buy a full priced game, you should get a big, polished piece of content, which gives you many, many hours of fun gameplay.”
This stance should come as no surprise to fans of the Studio – CD Projekt Red has always been outspoken when it comes to offering players a full experience when they paying for a game from them. This includes DRM free releases, major content released for the customer for either absolutely free, or very cheap prices, and full-fledged “Enhanced Edition” re-releases as well as free upgrades for the relevant higher-end versions of Sony’s PS4 or Microsoft’s Xbox One.
If only other game companies would follow their same ideology…
