Thief, the classic franchise from Eidos-Montreal and Square Enix is finally back in a new announcement trailer released yesterday for Out of Shadows.
The trailer, which you can watch below, gives players the first glimpse of Garrett the Master Thief and not much else in the way of spoilers or plot. It's very dark (obviously) and there is a lot of action (also obviously) but we don't get to see much in terms of gameplay, story, and much character at all besides the one shot of Garrett at the end.
According to the website, the plot follows Garrett as he steps into the world of the city underbelly. As the synopsis says:
There is a rising tide of fear in The City. Hatred saturates every stone and whilst the rich prosper, the less fortunate face misery and repression. Ravaged with sickness and famine, they wait for something to change. Into this shadowy world steps Garrett the Master Thief in a first-person adventure featuring intelligent design that allows players to take full control, with freedom to choose how they approach and overcome each challenge and forge their own path through the game.
The studio also launched game information among various social media platforms including Youtube, Tumblr, and Facebook.
The game will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and other next-generation consoles sometime in 2014.
