Fans of speculation will enjoy this. We’ve heard word that the next game in the Call Of Duty series might be subtitled “Ghosts”, dropping the “Modern Warfare” name altogether and branching out of the existing series.
How do we know this? We don't, really. The news comes from a Youtuber going by “Drift0r” who informs us that this was brought to him by a credible source who he, by his admission, trusts with his life. We’ve been unable to establish another, so please treat the following with incredulity (but feel free to still get excited).
This new game might feature a future setting with current generation weapons, which may be explained during the plot, it could have a system where the loading screens before the map starts are interactive.
He says you’re able to shoot while sliding, peek around corners and roll while prone.
The Spec Ops mode will allegedly be ripped out and replaced with a new one, there’ll also, according to him, be a newly added capability for some dynamic map destruction similarly to Battlefield.
This game, he says, won’t be available on current generation consoles. Allegedly (and according to sources that apparently differ from the rest of this information) it’ll only be available on the new Xbox console (which has not yet be announced), the Playstation 4 and PC. There’s no word of a Wii U release.
All of this, if he’s correct, will be announced by Activision some time in early May.
We of course have to consider what DriftOr gains from being purposefully misleading. The answer is not much, aside from attention that might not otherwise have been levied on him as he acts as the only source of this information, the increased channel views that this brings in and the ability to inform everyone that, should this information be false, that his trust was misaligned and that it’s not his fault.
Believe or disbelieve at your leisure.
