BioShock Infinite: How Elizabeth Came to Life

March 20, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new video showcases the women who brought Elizabeth’s character to life.

Irrational Games has published a new video that goes behind the scenes and shows what went into the creation of one of the game's two main characters, Elizabeth. Elizabeth, as you may know, is the subject of the game's story and one whom Booker—the protagonist—is tasked to rescue at the start of the game. Together, the two must find a way to get out of Columbia.

The video shows how Elizabeth came to be, and how she is designed to bring the player closer to the story. Four women were directly involved in Elizabeth's creation as a character and the video showcases how they made her "more human than your average video game character", and the process involved in making her come to life.

Watch the video below.

Elizabeth was a highly disputed character, whom many on the Irrational Games staff wanted cut from the game because they "didn't know what to do with her" during gameplay.

BioShock Infinite is out next week on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
