Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Is Being Turned Into A Physical Game

March 20, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

It’s a hard copy of a year old XBLA game, which itself is a port of a three year old PC game.

Minecraft, best known as indie gaming's sandbox sensation, has been quite the hit on the PC, as pretty much everyone knows by now. And it's popularity on the Xbox has also been well documented.

Cloners were able to create quite the cottage industry in the Indie Games channel, and many of them continue to thrive despite the authentic experience being made available at last on XBLA.

Though, believe it or not, but not every single Xbox 360 owner out there has the means to enjoy the game. As crazy as it might be to believe, but not everyone has easy access to high-speed internet access.

Which is why many Xbox Live Arcade games find themselves onto store shelves. And Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is the next digital game to make that jump.

According to Play XBLA, the boxed copy of Minecraft for the 360 will contain all the same content and features of the version that exists online at the moment, along with additions that will be included in the forthcoming ninth title update.

Furthermore, even multiplayer connectivity will be supported. Those with physical copies can play with those who own digital copies online. Which seems a bit odd, since the whole point of the physical release is to cater to those who lack internet.

Though it's also the perfect thing for Minecraft diehards, who wouldn't mind a boxed copy on their shelves, even if they've own the digital version since day one. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition arrives on April 30th and for $19.99.
