The free-to-play take on PUBG’s Battle Royale mode, Fortnite Battle Royale is set to receive a couple of additions to the expansive map, Epic Games has outlined A new city, junkyard and more defined biomes are part of the update coming this week but before this happens, the developer has patched an exploit that’s been affecting the Fatal Fields area.
Essentially, the exploit allowed players to enter beneath the map and kill others without any consequence. Following this patch, Epic Games noted that it will be taking a closer look at players reported for using the exploit and take “appropriate action.” This more often than not means that the players will be banned.
The update is set to drop this week, but we don’t have an exact date. Here’s what lead designer, Eric Williamson has said about the update.
“We felt [the game] was a little light on Points of Interest, so we wanted to even the island out and make it feel like there were more locations to drop into,” Williamson said. Teased in the video is a new city Point of Interest and a Motel.
Additionally, Williamson said the team wanted to separate the map into what he refers to as “clearly defined Biomes.”
“The swamps feel swampier, the mountains feel more mountainey,” he said. “Really the different areas of the map feel more unique.”
Fornite is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
